My cloud hosting costs on AWS have been rising and I was wondering if there's a way to lower it. I read that AWS offers credits to offset these costs? How can I get them? I've seen $5k around but what about $10k?

Yes that's correct, AWS has a program where they give out credits to lower hosting costs. This program is called the AWS Activate program, and it's mainly for startups.
If you have a fast growing startup with an innovative technology solution, you can opt to apply to be part of their program. Usually AWS gives out $1,000 in credits for new applications (not associated with an organization or VC firm).
If you've raised money from a VC or accelerator, you can easily get up to $100k in AWS credits from them. They must be an AWS Activate Partner - most VCs are.
For a lower amount ($5k / $10k) in AWS credits, there are several communities / companies on the internet that are offering programs for you to tap into them.
Do take note that these credits are mainly allocated for STARTUPS (not consultancies or dev firms)
